The Container Arrives in Nkwanta
Gill Norris writes
Dear all,
I thought you would
like to know what has happened to all the contents
of the container.
The computers and accessories have been given to the Secondary School. They have managed to get 7 working so far. Some of the bits will be used to help to repair machines given to world vision last time.
- The school text books have been given to appropriate schools.
- Some
bikes have been given to people who work for me as I their pay is small, a
few were sold to cover the cost of the repairs to the electrics at the
Kyabobo
centre.
- I am
still doing battle with the desks and office furniture, despite looking at
pictures, I cannot get it to fit together!!
- All the sports and art materials are now in the centre for use by schools.
- Mattresses have been sent to St. Joseph's Clinic.
Thank you for the personal gifts, I have already read many
of the books
and spend happy hours trying to beat myself at Scrabble. To Suey, the
cat loves her toy and plays all the time when not sleeping.
Many thanks to everyone for all their hard work in
collecting, storing, packing up and sending out the container. The donations sent are of great value to the people of Nkwanta
who have so very little.
Nkwanta Fire people( who have no means of fighting a fire)
have just
now decided to put regulations from 2003 into operation!! I have to buy
forms to fill in with details of premises, then pay to have them
processed. I am then told what to put in in the way of smoke detectors
and extinguishers etc. I then have to pay for a certificate that has to
be renewed each year!!. This is a good way for the government to raise money
to buy some equipment for the fire station.
I will arrive in the UK early in the morning of 2nd
Sept. and stay until 10th. Hope to see many of you then.
Gill
